week 11
Good Design:
CD holders are genius and are my good design pick this week. They com in all heights and are wonderful. They keep your cd's safe and together. You have a cover that twists one and off. This locks it into place so if you were to drop it, your cd's would be safe. It also keeps water from destroying them and scratches to occur. Its not to big that you cant keep it in a drawer. I personally think it looks cool enough to leave out as decoration. Now CD's are slowly becoming less and less because of flash drive, but it makes them cheaper and when was the last time you loss a cd versus a thumb drive?
Have you ever encountered a door where your not sure if you need to pull or push? have you noticed a sign is needed to prompt you on what to do? This week I wanted to point out some bad designs for doors. Now his is for specific doors because not all doors are designed badly. I've done a little research on this and happened to come across a video all about these doors. They are called Norman doors. Basically the bad door ques you to do the opposite of what you need to do. For example they put a handle for a push door or a bar for a pull door. Another fun fact is that all commercial places in Florida legally have to have the doors open out. This is due to safety. If a fire or something occurs people cant get crushed up against a door because it opens in. They will simply be pushed out and no one gets trapped.
He is the link to the video, its very intriguing and I highly suggest watching it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY96hTb8WgI
